혓바닥이 도수에 절여지기 시작하면서부터 대부분 40%로 출시되는 블렌디드를 떠나,

보다 강력하고 개성있는 싱글몰트쳐돌이가 되어버린 현재지만,

그래도 가끔은 블렌디드들이 주는 부드러움과 편안함이 생각나서 한번씩 찾게되는 제품들이 있는데 그 중 하나가 바로

조니워커 블루라벨
블루라벨이다.

위스키를 거의 마셔보지 않은 사람도 '오?얘는 좀 틀리다?' 라고 말하게 되는,
이미 꽤 넓고 깊게 위스키에 대한 경험이 쌓인 사람도 '오 역시' 라고 말하게 되는,

따지고 보면 요즘 소주 도수보다 두배 이상 독한 독주인데 뭔가 더 부드럽고 향이 좋고 목구멍까지 만족감이 드는,

크으~가 아니고 으음~소리가 나오는,

달달한 꿀향과 건과류의 달큰한 맛과 피니쉬에서 아주 부드럽게 퍼지는 스모키까지,

위스키가 보여줄수 있는 다양함을 한잔에 느낄수 있게 해주는,

거기에 플러스 뭔가 고급져보이는 오묘하게 푸른 빛깔의 병과 한잔 따르려 들었을때 느껴지는 묵직함까지,

누구에게나 기분좋은 경험을 주는 부드럽고 편안한 위스키가 아닌가 싶다.

블렌디드를 마실땐 오히려 좀 더 클래식하게 온더락 잔에 따라 니트로 마시는것을 선호하는 편인데, 그게 뭔가 더 갬성이

충전 되는 느낌이 들기 때문이다...?

(위스키는 갬성이 절반 이상이라고 생각...)

왜 그냥 옛날 영화들 보면, 티 테이블 같은거 위에 디캔터에 담긴 위스키 시크하게 들어서 그 옆에 놓인 묵직해보이는 온더

락잔에 꼴꼴꼴꼴~부어가지고 몇번 스월링 해주고 무심하게 맛보면서 창밖바라보며 깊은 고민에 빠지는듯한 머 그런 남이

보면 지랄 작작하라고 발로 엉덩이 냅다 주차버리고싶은 그 썩어문드러질거같은 갬성.

그 갬성을 느끼려면 개인적으로는 블렌디드+온더락 잔이여야 그 갬성을 채울수 있다.

하나살까. 갬성충전용으로....

막상 사면 또 귀찮아서 잘 안 쓸거 같은데....

아아 어쨌든,

조니워커 블루라벨은 분명 잘 만든 술.

괜히 많이 팔리는게 아니겠지.

Ever since my tongue started getting pickled in high ABV, I've drifted away from blends, which mostly come out at 40%,

and these days I've turned into a single malt fanatic chasing stronger, more characterful stuff,

but every now and then I still miss the smoothness and comfort that blends give you, and there are a few bottles I go looking for once in a while. One of them is none other than

Johnnie Walker Blue Label
Blue Label.

The kind of whisky that makes someone who has barely ever had whisky go 'Oh? This one's kinda different?',
and makes someone who has already built up pretty wide and deep whisky experience go 'Ah, as expected',

When you think about it, it's a hard liquor more than twice as strong as today's soju, and yet it's somehow smoother, smells better, and leaves you satisfied all the way down your throat,

the kind that gets a 'mmm~' out of you instead of a 'khaaa~',

from the sweet honey aroma and the mellow sweetness of dried fruit and nuts, right through to the smoke that spreads ever so gently on the finish,

letting you feel the whole range whisky can show you in a single glass,

plus that fancy-looking, mysteriously blue bottle and the satisfying heft you feel when you pick it up to pour a glass,

I'd say it's a smooth, comfortable whisky that gives anyone a pleasant experience.

When I drink blends, I actually prefer to go a bit more classic and pour them neat into a rocks glass, because it somehow feels like it recharges my

vibes more...?

(I think whisky is at least half vibes...)

You know how in old movies, someone chicly picks up a decanter of whisky from some tea table, pours it glug-glug-glug~ into the heavy-looking rocks

glass sitting next to it, swirls it a few times, tastes it nonchalantly while staring out the window as if lost in deep thought... that kind of

cringe-to-the-bone vibe that makes anyone watching want to plant a boot on their backside and yell 'Knock it off already.'

Personally, to get that vibe and really fill up on it, it has to be a blend + a rocks glass.

Writing this, I'm seriously craving a decanter.

Should I buy one? Purely for vibe-charging purposes....

Though if I actually bought one, I'd probably be too lazy to use it much....

Ahh, anyway,

Johnnie Walker Blue Label is definitely a well-made spirit.

It doesn't sell this much for nothing.

Everyone's taste buds are the same after all~

I kinda wish someone would drop by before I finish this bottle and casually toss me one, like 'Eh, picked this up at duty-free on the way'?
