추석즈음 이마트 행사상품으로 나왔던,
글렌알라키 10년 그라타마코 와인 캐스크 피니쉬.

사실 5,6년 전부터 시작된 빌리워커 어르신의 실험적인 우드/캐스크피니쉬 제품들에 만족감을 느껴본적이 거의 없어서 구매를 망설였다가 10만원 이하 제품이니 가볍게 마셔보자 싶어서 구매.

결론적으로는 음...뭐...그냥 또 그저 그렇다.
개인적으로 빌리워커의 우당탕탕 대환장우드/캐스크피니쉬실험실의 성공적이였던 제품은 12년 루비포트 우드피니쉬, 13년 올로로소 우드피니쉬 제품 정도인데 그에 비하면...
음...그래 뭐 그래~...🫠🫠

그럴싸하게 써져있는 그라타마코 와인 캐스크의 느낌이 확 와닿진 않고, 초반에는 그냥 아메리칸 오크 캐스크 캐릭터가 대부분이고, 찌르는 부즈 끝에 약하게 꽃향기와 과실향이 묻어나오는 정도.

입에 넣으면 꿀같은 달달함과 계피에서 느껴질법한 쌉싸름함이있다.

전체적으로 9만원에 이정도? 음. 뭐 나쁘지않네 정도 인듯.

그나마 고마운 부분은 어르신 성향담아 도수를 48%로 꽤 높게 뽑아줘서 가성비로 마실만하다는 생각이 들긴했음.

저녁식사할때 버번마시듯 한잔씩 곁들이다보니,
생각보다 금방 비웠다.
그러나 이제 다 비웠다고 또 사마시진 않을듯

은 어리석은 나의 생각을 마치 트루먼쇼처럼 모니터링 당하고 일부로 억까하려는듯 오늘 이마트 행사 문자온거 보니 7만원대에 판다고 문자옴.

Honestly, I've barely ever been satisfied with Billy Walker's experimental wood/cask finish products that started 5-6 years ago, so I hesitated, but since it's under 100,000 won I figured I'd give it a casual try, and bought it.

Conclusion: well... um... it's just meh, again.
Personally, the successful products from Billy Walker's slapstick total-chaos wood/cask finish lab are pretty much the 12-year Ruby Port wood finish and the 13-year Oloroso wood finish, and compared to those...
um... yeah, well, it is what it is~...🫠🫠

The Grattamacco wine cask, which is written up so impressively, doesn't really come through. Early on it's mostly just American oak cask character, with faint floral and fruity notes trailing after the prickly booze.

In the mouth there's a honey-like sweetness and a bitterness like you'd get from cinnamon.

Overall, this much for 90,000 won? Hmm. Well, it's not bad, I guess.
(I'm not saying I dislike it. But I'm not saying I like it either🫠🫠)

The one thing I'm grateful for is that, true to the old man's style, he bottled it at a fairly high 48%, so I did think it's worth drinking for the value.

Having a glass with dinner the way I'd drink a bourbon,
I finished it faster than I expected.
But now that it's empty, I don't think I'll buy it again

...was my foolish thought, which was apparently being monitored Truman Show-style, because today, as if to deliberately troll me, I got an E-Mart promo text saying they're selling it for 70,000-something won.
