글렌알라키 10년 CS 배치 11

배치 8번 이후로는 한동안 관심을 두지 않았었는데, 패키지와 라벨이 확~바뀐 기념으로다가 오랜만에 글렌알라키 10CS를 구매했다.

이라고 홈페이지에 나와있음.

우선 시음 전에 패키지와 라벨색상에 대해 얘기하자면, 솔직히 초콤 구리다.
개인적으로는 변경 전 글렌알라키의 패키지 및 라벨도 그리 클래식하다거나 므찌다라는 생각은 안들었지만....더 까꾸로 가는 느낌.
글렌모렌지도 리뉴얼된 버젼이 별로라고 느끼는데 어쩌면 내 갬성이 현 시대를 쫓아가지 못하나보다.🫠🫠🫠

위스키 컬러는 여전히 찐함.
10년 숙성이 어쩜 이리 고울꼬~눼츄랄인데...

뚜따 직후 노즈에서는 알콜향이 초반에 꽤 치는 편.
에어레이션이 좀 필요할 것 같다.
그리고 이전 배치들보다 확연히 다르다고 느껴지는 부분이 있는데,
마치 드로낙에서 날 법한 빵 내지 케이크의 향이 짙게 난다.
달큰하고 고소함.
의외로 이전의 알라키들이 초반부터 주던 특유의 다크초콜릿 같은 느낌은 잘 와닿지 않는다.

팔렛으로 넘어가면 그제서야 알라키스러운 다크 초콜릿이 초반부터 스며든다.
생강스러운 쌉사름함이 살짝 느껴지고, 끝쪽에서 잘익은 과실들도 느껴짐.
강한 스파이시 느낌보단 약한 펀치감의 떫음도 함께.

혀보단 코가 더 매콤한 타입.🤧

피니쉬도 다크초콜릿 갬성이 살짝 묻어나고, 다 지나고 짭짭대면 입안쪽으로 아몬틸라도캐스크피니쉬에서 느껴질법한 너티함이 계속 묻어있음.

전체적으로는 생강즙을 스프레이로 뿌려놓은, 견과류가 몇개 박혀있는 다크초콜릿 케이크를 먹는 느낌...이랄까...
이전 배치들과는 다르게 좀 더 Complex하고, 밸런스도 꽤 잡혀있는편이다.
그러나 아주 이전 배치들(4~7)의 추억을 떠올리고자 구매할 술은 아니다.
특성이 좀 다르다고 느껴짐.🧐

그래도 살짝 기대가 되는 부분은, 에어레이션 한참 시켜놓으면 꽤 맛있을거 같다는 느낌이 든다.
맛이 확 필거같은 느낌적인 느낌.😃

한 너댓잔 더 비우고, 잘 닫아놨다가 3개월 뒤쯤 다시 마셔봐야겠다!

After batch 8 I hadn't paid it much attention for a while, but to celebrate the totally revamped packaging and label, I bought a GlenAllachie 10 CS for the first time in ages.

PX + Oloroso + red wine barrique + virgin oak combo,
or so the website says.

First, before tasting, let's talk about the packaging and label color: honestly, it's a teensy bit ugly.
Personally, I never thought GlenAllachie's old packaging and label were especially classic or cool either, but.... this feels like going backwards.
I also think Glenmorangie's renewed look is meh, so maybe my taste just can't keep up with the times.🫠🫠🫠

The whisky's color is still deep.
How is a 10-year-old this pretty~ and it's natural color, too...

Right after opening the bottle, the nose hits with quite a bit of alcohol early on.
It'll probably need some aeration.
And there's one thing that feels clearly different from previous batches:
a thick aroma of bread or cake, like you'd expect from a Dronach.
Sweet and nutty.
Surprisingly, that signature dark-chocolate vibe earlier Allachies gave right from the start doesn't really come through.

Moving on to the palate, that's when the Allachie-style dark chocolate seeps in from the start.
There's a slight ginger-like bitterness, and toward the end, ripe fruits.
Rather than strong spice, there's a light-punch astringency along with it.

The type where your nose gets spicier than your tongue.🤧

The finish also carries a hint of that dark-chocolate vibe, and once it's all gone and you smack your lips, a nuttiness like you'd get from an amontillado cask finish keeps clinging inside your mouth.

Overall it's like eating a dark chocolate cake spritzed with ginger juice, with a few nuts studded in... kind of...
Unlike previous batches it's more complex, and the balance is fairly well put together.
But this isn't a bottle to buy if you want to relive memories of the really early batches (4-7).
The character feels somewhat different.🧐

Still, what I'm a bit hopeful about is that I get the feeling it'll be pretty tasty after a good long aeration.
That feeling-ish feeling that it's really going to bloom.😃

I'll drink another four or five glasses, seal it up tight, and try it again in about 3 months!
