위스키 콜키지에 대한 푸념

코로나도 풀리고 모임도 잦아지고 위스키 즐기는 주변인들도 많아져서 요즘 모임때에는 종종 위스키 콜키지 가능한 식당

들을 검색해서 한 두병 가져가 다같이 즐기는 경우가 더러 있다.

비단 나뿐만 아니라 코로나 전후로 위스키 수요가 폭발적으로 늘어나면서 예전과는 다르게 위스키 콜키지 서비스를 해주

는 식당도 많아져서 개인적으로는 반가운 일이고 너무 감사한 일이기는 하다.
그러나, 일반적으로 위스키는 와인보다 고도수의 술이기에 콜키지비용을 와인보단 더 지불해야되는 경우가 많다.

예를 들면,

콜키지비용 :

와인 병 당 3만원,

매그넘보틀 or 고도수(위스키,꼬냑 등등)주류 병 당 5만원.

*단, 매장 내 판매되는 주류는 반입불가.

뭐 대부분 이런식이다.

(물론 5만원은 강남권 위주의 시세이고, 기타 지역은 2~3만원 내지 무료인곳이 있기도함)

그부분 너무나도 충분히 충분히 이해하고 콜키지 서비스 해주시는 사장님들 너무 감사하고 고맙게 생각하는데,

문제는 그렇게 지불하고 받는 콜키지 서비스에 질이 올바른가에 대한것이다.

대체적으로, 와인 콜키지를 할때는 가져온 와인종류도 물어보시고 그에 맞는 와인잔도 내어주시는데,

지금까지 내가 다녀본, 위스키 콜키지가 가능한 5만원 이상의 콜키지 비용을 지불하는 식당에서는 매번 왜 저 화요라고 박

혀있는 온더락잔 내지는 일품진로가 적혀있는 온더락잔을 준비해주냐는 것이다.

나는 화요 아니고 일품진로 아니고 물 아니고 위스키 마시러 온건데...

종종 위스키 콜키지 시에도 어떤 잔으로 준비해드려야 하는지 물어보시는 아주 친절한 직원분들도 있으신데,그때마다 글

렌캐런 같은 노징글라스가 있으시면 그걸로 부탁드린다고 하면,

어떤 잔인지 모르시거나, 기껏 물어보시고 온더락잔밖에 없다고 하시는게 대부분이다.

그럼 마치 무리한 주문,부탁을 하는 블랙컨슈머가 된듯 잔의 모양이 이렇게 이렇게 저렇게 저렇게 생긴 그런잔이라고 설명

을 주저리주저리하며 없으시냐고 되묻게 되거나 아니면 그냥 포기하고 온더락잔 주세요 라고 이야기 하게 된다.

이상하다.

분명 식당 측에서는 일정 금액을 받고, 가져온 술에 맞는 잔을 제공하고 음용하는것을 허락하셨고, 나 또한 서비스에 맞게

책정하신 금액을 정당히 지불하고 내 술을 담을 잔을 제공 받는것에 합의를 한건데 왜 막상 내가 받는 서비스는 약간 삐뚤

어져있는걸까...
좀 비약적일수도 있지만 만약 와인 콜키지 비용을 받고 온더락 잔 밖에 없다고 하시고 화요라고 적힌 잔 내어주시면서 와

인콜키지입니다. 3만원이요.

하시면 소비자들이 상식적으로 수긍할까싶다.

막말로 위스키 콜키지 비용 5만원이면 다이쏘에 가서 짭캐런이라고 불리는 2천원짜리 노징글라스를 25잔은 살 수 있다.

매번 콜키지 할 때마다 아쉬운 부분이다.

(아물론 콜키지 프리거나 굉장히 죄송할 정도로 저렴하게 서비스 해주시는거면 그냥 아닥아닥하고 감동의 눈물 줄줄흘리

면서 다찌그러진 양은 막걸리잔에 따라 마셔도 아쉬울게 전혀 없다. 아니면 아예 애초부터 위스키 콜키지 불가라고 하셔도

전혀전혀 불만없음!?)

전국에 계신 위스키 콜키지 서비스 해주시는 잘생기고 멋있고 예쁘고 귀엽고 섹시하시고 동안이시고 부자되시고 무병장수

하실 사장님들.

조금만 신경써주세요.??

5만원 내는데 노징글라스 정도는 준비해주실 수 있지 않을까요....

With COVID restrictions lifted, get-togethers happening more often and more people around me getting into whisky, these days I sometimes look up restaurants that allow whisky corkage and bring a bottle or two for everyone to enjoy together.

And it's not just me: with whisky demand exploding around and after COVID, a lot more restaurants now offer whisky corkage, unlike before, which personally I'm really happy about and very grateful for.
However, since whisky is generally higher in alcohol than wine, you often have to pay a higher corkage fee than for wine.

For example,

Corkage fee:

Wine: 30,000 won per bottle,

Magnums or high-proof spirits (whisky, cognac, etc.): 50,000 won per bottle.

*Note: drinks sold on the premises may not be brought in.

That's how most of them go.

(Of course 50,000 won is the going rate mainly around Gangnam; in other areas it's 20,000-30,000 won, and some places are even free.)

I understand that part completely, totally, and I'm really thankful and grateful to the owners who offer corkage,

but the problem is whether the quality of the corkage service you get after paying that fee is actually right.

Generally, when you do wine corkage, they ask what kind of wine you brought and give you wine glasses to match,

but at every restaurant I've been to so far that allows whisky corkage and charges 50,000 won or more, why do they always bring out rocks glasses with "Hwayo" printed on them, or rocks glasses that say "Ilpoom Jinro"?

I didn't come here to drink Hwayo, or Ilpoom Jinro, or water. I came to drink whisky...

Now and then, with whisky corkage too, you get a really kind staff member who asks what kind of glass they should prepare, and every time I say that if they have a nosing glass like a Glencairn, I'd like that please,

most of the time they either don't know what glass I mean, or they went to the trouble of asking only to tell me they only have rocks glasses.

Then I end up feeling like some entitled nightmare customer making an unreasonable request, rambling on about how the glass is shaped like this and like this and like that and like that and asking again whether they really don't have one, or I just give up and say "rocks glasses are fine then."

It's weird.

The restaurant clearly charged a set fee and agreed to provide glasses suited to the drink I brought and let me drink it, and I fairly paid the fee they set for that service and agreed to be given glasses for my drink, so why is the service I actually get always a bit off...
This might be a bit of a stretch, but if they charged a wine corkage fee, said they only had rocks glasses, handed you a glass with "Hwayo" written on it and said, "That's wine corkage. 30,000 won, please,"

would customers, by common sense, just accept that?

To put it bluntly, with a 50,000 won whisky corkage fee you could go to Daiso and buy 25 of those 2,000 won nosing glasses people call "Fake-cairns."

It's something that bugs me every single time I do corkage.

(Oh, of course, if it's free corkage or they're doing it for so cheap that I feel almost sorry, I'll just shut my mouth, weep tears of gratitude and happily drink it out of a battered, dented tin makgeolli cup with zero complaints. Or if they just say no whisky corkage from the start, I have absolutely, absolutely no complaints either!?)

To all the owners across the country who offer whisky corkage: handsome, cool, pretty, cute, sexy, youthful-looking owners who will surely become rich and live long, healthy lives.

Please just pay a little more attention.??

I'm paying 50,000 won, so couldn't you at least have a nosing glass ready....
