라프로익 10년
LOVE OR HATE.
그렇게 라프로익는 LOVE.
하지만 피트를 경험해보지 않았다면,
HHHHHAAAAATEEE겠지만...😵💫😵💫😵💫
빠져드는데에는 경험과 시간이 필요할것이다.
셰리에 글렌드로낙 오리지널 12년이 있다면,
피트에는 라프로익 10년이 아닐까.
노즈부터 느껴지는 강렬한 피트, 팔렛에서 다가오는 약간의 비릿한 단짠단짠, 피니쉬에서 퍼지는 몰트그리고 피트와 스모키의 긴 여운.
단 한모금으로 눈코입 구멍이란 구멍의 깊은곳에 종합병원 맛집(?)이 개원한느낌이다.
가성비란 이런 친구들을 두고 하는 말이겠지.
겨울이라 왠지 더 생각나고 빠져드는 라프로익이 아닐 수 없다.
라프로익은 처음 경험하고 나서 시간이 지나면,
아니야!! 내가 걔를 좋아할리 없어!
걔는 냄새나고 이상하자나!
근데...뭐지?
보고싶어.
다시또궁금해.
싫은데 좋아.
실은 나 병원...좋아하는걸까나?
하는 뭐 그런 느낌....
물론 라프로익 10년이 밸런스 좋은 리치함이나 복합적인 맛과 향을 느끼게 해주진 못하지만 그래도 잘 만든 피트위스키를 경험하게 해주고 다음의 라프로익을 궁금하게 만드는 좋은 엔트리 위스키임에는 분명 하다고 본다.
접근성도 좋으니 귯귯.
개인적으로는 작은 차이이긴 하지만 북미판 43도가 보이면 그친구로 업어오는것을 추천.

And so, Laphroaig is a LOVE.
But if you've never experienced peat,
it'll probably be HHHHHAAAAATEEE... 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Falling for it takes experience and time.
If sherry has the GlenDronach Original 12,
then peat has Laphroaig 10, wouldn't you say?
Intense peat right from the nose, a slightly briny sweet-salty-sweet-salty on the palate, then malt spreading out on the finish with a long linger of peat and smoke.
With a single sip, it feels like a hot new 'general hospital' restaurant (?) just opened deep inside every single hole in my eyes, nose and mouth.
This must be what people mean by value for money.
It's winter, so somehow I crave Laphroaig even more and fall for it even harder.
With Laphroaig, some time after your first encounter, it goes something like:
No!! There's no way I like that thing!
It's smelly and weird!
But... what is this?
I miss it.
I'm curious about it again.
I hate it but I like it.
Could it be that I actually... like... hospitals?
...that sort of feeling....
Of course Laphroaig 10 won't give you well-balanced richness or complex flavours and aromas, but I definitely think it's a good entry whisky that lets you experience a well-made peated whisky and makes you curious about the next Laphroaig.
It's easy to get hold of too, so thumbs up, good good.
Personally - though the difference is small - if you spot the North American 43% version, I recommend carrying that one home.
Bring in a bottle each for the cold winter.
