글렌피딕 21년 럼캐스크 피니쉬

아주 오랜만에 마셔보는 글렌피딕 21년.

여전히 부드럽고 여전히 화사하다.

글렌피딕이 주는 특유의 서양배 느낌도 잘 살아있고,
코로 힘껏 들이켜도 21년 숙성답게 찌르는 부즈가 전혀 느껴지지 않는다.
달큰함과 약간의 시트러스의 조화도 좋음.

의외로 팔렛에서 얌전함 뒤로 스파이시가 살짝 자극하는것도 오히려 매력적임.

천천히 비워나가면 바닐라향이 짙어진다.

피니쉬도 가볍고 화사한 느낌이 꽤 길게 여운을 남기는데,
발베니 16년 프렌치 오크마냥 화사한 피니쉬가 이렇게 길게 여운을 가져갈 수 있는 위스키도 많지 않을듯 싶다.

물론 꾸우드억하고 끄은저억하고 꼬리잇하고 찌인드윽한 행복가득 셰리세상~뭐 그런 느낌은 아니지만,

21년 숙성 치고 상대적으로 가격도 저렴하고 근데 또 패키지는 장식용으로 아주 좋을정도로 고급져서 선물하기도 좋고 거기다 꾸준한 물량조달로 접근성도 뛰어나면서도 맛이 꾸준히 유지되는 뭐 고숙성년수의 갓갓성비 위스키가 아닐까?

요즘 잘만 찾아다니면 30만원 중반대에 구매 할 수도 있는데 그 가격대라면 글렌피딕 21년 만큼 만족감주는 위스키도 드물것같다.

아니...생각해보면 글렌피딕은 늘 실패가 없는듯???🤔🤔

그나저나 장식용으로 몇년을 묵혀뒀었는데 맛을 다 까묵어서 비틀어놓고 보니 역시 장식은개뿔 마시는게 최고다 히히😁

당분간 또 잘지내보자구~🤗

Glenfiddich 21, which I'm drinking for the first time in a very long time.

Still smooth, still bright and floral.

The signature Glenfiddich pear note is alive and well,
and even when I inhale hard through my nose, there's zero prickly booze, as you'd expect from a 21-year-old.
The balance of sweetness and a bit of citrus is nice too.

Surprisingly, behind the gentleness on the palate there's a little spicy kick, which actually makes it more charming.

As you slowly work through the glass, the vanilla gets deeper.

The finish is light and bright and lingers quite long,
and I don't think there are many whiskies whose bright finish can linger this long, like the Balvenie 16 French Oak.

Of course, it's not that thiiick, stiiicky, fuuunky, deeeense, happiness-filled sherry world kind of vibe, but

it's relatively cheap for a 21-year-old, yet the packaging is fancy enough to work great as a display piece, so it's good for gifting too; on top of that, steady supply makes it very accessible and the taste stays consistent — isn't this basically the god-tier value pick among high-age-statement whiskies?

These days, if you hunt around, you can buy it for around the mid-300,000 won range, and at that price I think few whiskies give as much satisfaction as Glenfiddich 21.

No wait... come to think of it, Glenfiddich never seems to miss???🤔🤔

Anyway, I'd kept it as a display piece for years and completely forgot what it tasted like, so once I twisted it open — yeah, display my foot, drinking it is the best hehe😁
