위스키 잘몰라도 한번은 어디선가 들어본듯한 위스키.

아 왜 그거 뭐 글렌 뭐시기 있자나~그거 병 삼각형으로 생기고 사슴 그려진거 그거~~~~~몰라????

맞다. 생산량도 많아서 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있고, 상징인 삼각병과 사슴마크 하면 대부분은 알고 있는 글렌피딕.

(모두가 아는 잠깐 게일어 상식 : 글렌=계곡,피딕=사슴)

싱글몰트 위스키에 관심이 생기면 초반에 글렌피딕으로 시작해보는 사람들도 꽤 많다.

그만큼 접근성도 좋아서,

고래 그럼 부담없이 쟤로 함 까보까???

하게 되는 위스키 브랜드가 아닌가 싶다.

예전에 처음 드시는 분들이 과거 기준으로 10만원대 위스키를 추천해달라고 하면 늘 후보에 넣어줬던 글렌피딕 18년.

(지금은..20만원 조금 넘는 가격에 판매되는것 같.....위스키시장다망해버렷!!!하지만 늘 망하는건 내 지갑이였죠.)

가성비로는 15년이 워낙 평가가 좋았고 다른 사람들도 추천을 많이 해줬겠지만, 그래도 난 늘 15년 보단 쪼오~금만 더 써

서 18년을 마셔보라고 추천해주곤했다.

블렌디드만큼 거부감 들지 않으면서,

블렌디드보다 특색있는 경험을 하게 해주는,

꽤 밸런스가 좋고 잘 만들어진,

무려 18년 숙성이면서,

상대적으로 저렴한 위스키.

이 친구가 가진 단점은 위스키에 어느정도 혀가 절여진(ABV40%따위에는 흥미를 잃은 또는 찐득한 셰리나 강한피트등의

자극적이고 특이성향으로 발전 되어버려진)사람들이 아니고선 찾지 못할것 같다.

글렌피딕을 얘기 하다보면 그놈의 서양배가 뭔데 자꾸 서양배서양배 타령을 하는거야 나는 한국배도 잘안먹는데!? 싶지

만,

마셔보면 아 이게 그놈의 서양배인가? 싶은 향긋달달한 향이 존재한다.

아직도 서양배라는건 못 먹어 봤지만, 지금까지 마신 모든 글렌피딕에서는 그놈의 서양배로 추정(?)되는 향이 비슷하게 나

기 때문에,

나는 그것을 서양배라고 생각하기로 했다.

(이런식으로, 특정 증류소에서 그들만 갖고 있는 독특한 향들은 대부분 그 증류소의 증류기 모양과 증류방식에 따르는 경

우가 많다.)

여기에 18년은 사과같은 싱긋한 향과, 약간의 셰리도 존재한다.

전체적으로 적당히 가볍고 화사하고 부드럽고 달달함.

피니쉬는 긴편은 아니지만, 달큰하게 마무리되면서 기분 좋게 만들어준다.
좋은사람들과 좋은시간을 보낼아아엌이게아니고,

어..어쨌든 밸런스가 좋은 위스키를 마셔보고 싶고,

아직 글렌피딕 18년의 경험이 없다면,

요즘 면세점은 두병 씩 가능하니까 한병 지인 선물로 주고 그날 같이 까묵으면 더할나위 없을 것 같다.

가격적으로나 맛과 향으로나 항상 실패하지 않을 위스키.

덕분에 한병 이렇게 또 재미봤네요~

Glenfiddich 18 years Small Batch Reserve
A whisky you've probably heard of somewhere at least once, even if you don't know much about whisky.

"Oh, you know, that one, Glen-something~ the one with the triangle bottle and the deer on it~~~~~ you don't know????"

Yep. Produced in big volumes so it's easy to find, and most people know it the moment you mention the iconic triangular bottle and stag logo: Glenfiddich.

(Quick Gaelic trivia everyone knows: Glen = valley, Fiddich = deer)

Quite a lot of people who get interested in single malt whisky start out with Glenfiddich.

It's that accessible, so

"Okaaay, then shall we just crack that one open, no pressure???"

— I think it's that kind of whisky brand.

Glenfiddich 18 — back in the day, when first-timers asked me to recommend a whisky in the 100,000 won range, it was always on my shortlist.

(Now... it seems to sell for a bit over 200,000 won..... Whisky market, just go bust already!!! But the only thing that ever goes bust is my wallet.)

For value, the 15 was very highly rated and other people probably recommended it a lot too, but I always told people to spend juuust a little more and try the 18 instead of the 15.

Not off-putting, just like a blend,

yet giving you a more distinctive experience than a blend,

pretty well balanced and well made,

aged a whopping 18 years,

and relatively cheap.

I don't think anyone would find a flaw in this guy except people whose tongues are already pickled in whisky (who've lost interest in a measly 40% ABV, or who've evolved toward intense, quirky stuff like sticky sherry or heavy peat).
Off you go! Into my belly!!

When people talk about Glenfiddich, you might think, "What's the deal with this pear, why does everyone keep going on and on about Western pear, I barely even eat Korean pears!?" but

when you actually drink it, there's a fragrant, sweet aroma that makes you go, "Ah, so this is that famous pear?"

I still haven't actually eaten a Western pear, but every Glenfiddich I've had so far has a similar aroma presumed(?) to be that famous pear,

so I've decided to just think of it as pear.

(Unique aromas like this that belong only to a particular distillery often come from the shape of that distillery's stills and its distillation method.)

On top of that, the 18 has a fresh, apple-like aroma and a bit of sherry.

Overall it's pleasantly light, bright, smooth and sweet.

The finish isn't a long one, but it wraps up sweetly and leaves you feeling good.
Spending a good time with good peopl— argh, wait, that's not it,

A-anyway, if you want to try a well-balanced whisky

and you haven't had Glenfiddich 18 yet,

duty free lets you buy two bottles these days, so give one to a friend as a gift and crack it open together that same day — couldn't ask for more.

A whisky that never fails you, whether on price or on taste and aroma.
