글렌드로낙 CS 배치 12 vs 배치 11

배치11&배치12 둘다 넘모 좋다.

넘모 만족스럽게 마시고 있는 글렌드로낙 CS 배치 11의 후속타로 올 2월에 병입된 글렌드로낙 CS 배치 12.

두병 나란히 놓고 보고 있자니 글씨체도 그렇고 색감도 그렇고 글렌드로낙 15년보다 어둡고 고급진 녹색과 골드의 조합으

로 블링블링하니 참 먹음직 스럽게 생겼다!

(색깔도 그렇고 시세도 비슷하게 형성되있어서 15랑 자꾸 비교를 하게 되네...미..미안..??)
케이스 재질도 코어레인지들과는 조금 다르게 맨들맨들하고 약간 실크를 덮어놓은 느낌이다.?

배치11 이후로 이미 레이첼 누나를 맹신(?)하는 지경에 이르러 버려서 들이자마자 맛보고 싶어서 후딱 따버렸다.

전 배치인 11을 마시고 있기 때문에 비교하면서 쓸수 밖에 없겠다.

우선 가격은 배치11을 구할 때보다 다소 비싸게 구했다.(11도 싼편은 아니였는데...???)

11때와 마찬가지로 국내에서는 구할수가 없어서 직구로 구매한 환율탓도 있는듯하다...

이제 막 얼씨구 좀 만 더하면 원화로는 30만원 할 기세...

(아마 국내 리쿼샵에 풀리게 된다면 배치11,12모두 30만원은 넘어설것 같다......그..그만해미친놈들아!!)

도수는 배치11보다 1.6%낮은 58.2%지만 뭐 크게 섭섭한 수준은 아니다.

위스키 컬러도 뚫어져라 쳐다봐도 차이를 모를정도의 수준으로 배치 11과 같이 NAS, NATURAL COLOUR치곤 짙고 고

운편.

(컬러가 진하다고 무조건 맛있는건 아니지만 갬성으로 마시는 위스키 특성 상 색을 무시할순 없다고 본다.)
GLENDRONACH CASK STRENGTH BATCH 12

뚜따하고 한잔 골골 따라보면,

벌써부터 드로낙표 셰리냄새가 스르르 퍼져나온다.

그러다 믿음이 너무 강려크해진 나머지 뚜따 CS 인것을 망각하고 코를 박고 있는 힘껏 흐앙 빨아들였다가 눈물찔끔흘려버

렸다.??

알콜기운은 11때와 마찬가지로 여전...

후각이 맛이 갔을까봐 얌전히 뚜껑닫고 10분정도 기다렸다가 스월링 하고 다시 코박.

......

배치11과 유사하긴한데, 배치 11보단 꽤 시트러스한 향이 강하게 다가오고, 약간 빵? 같은 향도 같이 감싸고 들어와서 11

과 이부분에서 차이가 있는듯 싶다.

그뒤로는 당연하듯 들어오는 진득한 쉐리와 생강같은 스파이시도 느껴짐.

맛은 역시 믿음의 레이첼누나.

시작부터 짙은 쉐리와 다크초콜릿이 느껴지고 향에서 느껴지던 시트러스가 따라옴.

혀를 살짝 조여주는듯한 기분좋은 와인의 탄닌스러운 스파이시까지 기분이 좋아지게 만든다.

마무리는 꽤 길게 가져가려고 폼잡는데 아까부터 있던 시트러스함이 더 느끼고싶은거 고만하라고 마무리 시켜버리는 느낌

이라 약간 아쉽다.

며칠 뒤 에어레이션이 된 후에 마셔봐도 배치12가 가지고 있는 그 시트러스함과 빵의 기운?은 계속 유지된다.

이게 정말 취향 영역인듯 한데, 개인적으로는 배치12보단 배치11이 좋았다. 꾸덕하고 달큰한 셰리에 자꾸 시트러스와 빵

이 얹어져서 막 GomaSherry한 느낌이 들지 않았다. 배치 12가 좀 더 복합적이긴 하나 밸런스가 살짝 아쉽다라고 얘기하는 척

하지만 실은 어쨌거나 저쨌거나 배치 11보다 4만원이나 더 비싸게 줬는데 4만원어치정도는 더 맛있어야 하는거 아니냐

뭐 그런거 맞음쒸익쒸익 아몰랑 돈더줬으니까 더 내 입맛에 맞으라고!!!빼애애앧!!!!

전체적으로는 그래도 믿음의 레이첼누나였다.
배치13나오면 또 사마실거에요 눈나!

Batch 11 & Batch 12 - both sooo good.

GlenDronach CS Batch 12, bottled this February, the follow-up to GlenDronach CS Batch 11, which I've been enjoying sooo much.

Looking at the two bottles side by side, with the lettering and the colours, it's a darker, classier green-and-gold combo than the GlenDronach 15 - all bling-bling and looking really delicious!

(Between the colour and the fact that it's going for a similar price, I keep comparing it to the 15... s-sorry..??)
The case material is also a bit different from the core range - smooth and slick, kind of like it's been wrapped in silk.?

Ever since Batch 11 I've reached the point of blind faith(?) in Big Sis Rachel, so I wanted to taste it the moment it arrived and cracked it open right away.

Since I'm still drinking the previous batch, 11, I can't help but write this as a comparison.

First, price: I paid somewhat more for it than when I got Batch 11. (And 11 wasn't exactly cheap either...???)

Like with 11, you can't get it in Korea, so I bought it via direct overseas purchase, and I think the exchange rate played a part too...

At this rate, give it a little more and it's gonna hit 300,000 won...

(If they ever show up in Korean liquor shops, I bet both Batch 11 and 12 will go over 300,000 won...... s-stop it, you lunatics!!)

The ABV is 58.2%, 1.6% lower than Batch 11, but that's nothing to be too sad about.

The whisky's colour is, like Batch 11, deep and lovely for a NAS, NATURAL COLOUR bottling - to the point where you can't tell the difference no matter how hard you stare.

(Darker colour doesn't automatically mean tastier, but whisky is something you drink with your feels, so I don't think you can ignore the colour.)
GLENDRONACH CASK STRENGTH BATCH 12

Open it up and glug-glug a glass,

and already that Dronach-style sherry smell is gently drifting out.

Then, my faith having gotten waaay too strong, I forgot it was a freshly opened CS, stuck my nose right in and inhaled with all my might - and a little tear squeezed out.??

The alcohol is still as fierce as it was with 11...

Worried my sense of smell had been fried, I quietly put the cap back on, waited about 10 minutes, swirled, and nose-dived back in.

......

It's similar to Batch 11, but a fairly citrusy aroma comes through much more strongly than in Batch 11, and something a bit like bread? wraps its way in too - that seems to be where it differs from 11.

After that, as if on cue, comes a thick, rich sherry and a ginger-like spice.

On the palate, it's Big Sis Rachel as reliable as ever.

Right from the start you get deep sherry and dark chocolate, followed by the citrus from the nose.

Even the pleasant, wine-tannin-like spice that gently grips your tongue puts you in a good mood.

The finish tries to strike a pose and go long, but that citrus that's been hanging around since earlier kind of shuts it down, like "that's enough, stop wanting more," so it's a bit of a letdown.

Even drinking it a few days later after some aeration, that citrus and bready vibe? that Batch 12 has sticks around.

This really seems to be a matter of taste, but personally I liked Batch 11 better than Batch 12. Citrus and bread kept piling on top of that thick, sweet sherry, so it didn't feel full-on GomaSherry to me. I pretend to say Batch 12 is a bit more complex but the balance is slightly lacking,

but really, whatever the reason, I paid a whole 40,000 won more than for Batch 11, so shouldn't it be at least 40,000 won's worth tastier -

yeah, that's exactly what this is *huff huff* whatever I dunno, I paid more so it'd better suit my taste more!!! WAAAAAH!!!!

Overall, though, it was Big Sis Rachel as reliable as ever.
When Batch 13 comes out I'll buy it again, Sis!
