윌로우드 — 서울 바앤스피릿쇼

올해도 찾아온 서울바쇼!

예년보다 라운지에 위스키 종류가 많아져서 선택의 폭이 넓어져서 좋았음.

수많은 부스에서 개인적으로 제일 좋았던건 윌로우드 제품이였음.

스피릿을 소주로 썼는데 국내에서 포트캐스크 3년 이상 숙성시킨 cs이자 싱캐 제품이었고, 그걸 시음으로 내놓은것도 좋았고, 맛도 그동안 내가 바쇼든 박람회든 일반 소매점이든 마셔봤던,
소주에 오크 좀 묻혀봤다는 그 수많은 제품들과는 결이 달랐다.

이건 진짜 오크 숙성이다. 라는 느낌이 바로 들었음.
스피릿 탓인지 기존의 스카치 싱글몰트 위스키랑은 다른 묘한 매력이 있었음.

흉내낸거 아니고 진짜 위스키 느낌.
카발란 솔리스트 라인 같았달까.

시음시 만족도가 높아서 한병 구입하고 집에와서 오픈했는데 캡을 플라스틱 캡을 써서 그런지 처음 오픈시 플라스틱 냄새가 강하게 나타남.

윌로우드 측에서도 컴플레인을 좀 받았는지 바로 코르크마개로 바꾼다고 하고 전액 환불 절차를 밟는다고 했지만~?

사실 오픈해서 한잔 따르고 5분 정도 보내면 플라스틱 향은 바로 사라지고 시음했던 좋았던 기운들이 자기표현 여전히 잘함.

아무래도 기존캡은 못쓸거 같으니 버리고 집에있는 다른 증류소 빈병 뚜껑들 열심히 맞춰보니 글렌알라키 캡이 그나마 꼭 맞아서 닫아놨다.

어쨌든 올해는 어찌어찌(?)하다 혼자갔다 왔지만 여전히 재밌었고 신난 하루였다!😁😁

그럼 내년에 또 봐요 서울바쇼!

The Seoul Bar & Spirit Show is back again this year!

There were more whiskies in the lounge than in previous years, so there was a wider selection, which was nice.

Out of all the many booths, personally the best thing was Willowwood's product.

They used soju as the spirit, and it was a cask strength, single cask product aged for over 3 years in port casks here in Korea. I liked that they put that out for tasting, and the taste was on a different level from all those countless products I'd tried, whether at the Bar Show, expos or regular shops,
the ones that are basically soju that's had a bit of oak rubbed on it.

'Now THIS is real oak maturation.' That's the feeling I got immediately.
Maybe because of the spirit, it had a peculiar charm different from regular Scotch single malts.

Not an imitation, it genuinely felt like whisky.
Kind of like the Kavalan Solist line, I'd say.

I was so satisfied with the tasting that I bought a bottle and opened it at home, but maybe because they used a plastic cap, there was a strong plastic smell when I first opened it.

It seems Willowwood got some complaints too, since they said they'd switch to cork stoppers right away and go through a full refund process, but~?

Honestly, if you pour a glass after opening and give it about 5 minutes, the plastic smell disappears right away, and all the good stuff I liked at the tasting still expresses itself nicely.

Since the original cap didn't seem usable, I tossed it and tried fitting caps from other distilleries' empty bottles lying around at home, and the GlenAllachie cap fit the best, so I closed it with that.

Anyway, this year I somehow (?) ended up going alone, but it was still fun and an exciting day!😁😁
