아부나흐로 해본 피펫 물타기 실험

해외 유투버들이나 리뷰들 보면 물을 타마시는 경우가 많길래 호기심 뿜뿜해서 급하게 질러본 피펫.

동일한 잔 = 리델 비늄 꼬냑 헤네시
동일한 술 = 아벨라워 아부나흐 배치 74
동일한 양 = 1oz,지거사용

변수는 한쪽 잔에만 상온에 보관했던 삼다수를 피펫을 이용해서 2회 물 주입.

으아니 솔직히 이렇게 차이가 날거라곤 생각 못했는데 차이가 꽤느껴진다.
우선은 맛과 향이 빠르게 열리는 느낌.
부즈를 눌러주면서 맛을 끌어올리는 효과가 있는듯 하다.
노즈에서는 튀는 향이 좀 죽는다 싶은 정도 였지만 팔렛에서 아부나흐 캐릭터들이 자기주장을 더 강하고 골고루 펼치는 느낌이 든다. 둔한 편인 내가 느낄 정도의 차이라 신기할 따름.
전체적으로 빠르게 에어레이션을 시켜주는 느낌을 받는다.
이런 변화가 나쁘게 다가오지는 않지만,
단점이라면 60도가 주는 강려크함이 죽는다.
CS는 더이상 CS가 아닌것이됨.

이 방법은 40도 정도의 상대적으로 도수가 낮지만 맛있는 위스키를 위스키 뉴비에게 전파 하고 싶을때 몰래 피펫으로 두번 정도 찔러넣어서 건내주면 바로 빠져들것 같다.

결론은 맛의 꽤 변화를 주긴 하지만 나는 앞으로도 안타마실거 같다는거...?ㅎㅎ

I kept seeing overseas YouTubers and reviews adding water to their whisky, so my curiosity went through the roof and I impulse-bought a pipette.

Same glass = Riedel Vinum Cognac Hennessy
Same whisky = Aberlour A'bunadh Batch 74
Same amount = 1 oz, measured with a jigger

The only variable: in one glass, I added two drops of room-temperature Samdasoo water using the pipette.

Whoa, honestly I didn't expect there'd be this much of a difference, but you can really feel it.
First, the flavours and aromas seem to open up quickly.
It seems to tamp down the booze and bring the flavours forward.
On the nose, the sharp notes just get a bit muted, but on the palate the A'bunadh characteristics assert themselves more strongly and more evenly. It's amazing that even someone with a dull palate like me can notice the difference.
Overall, it feels like it aerates the whisky quickly.
This change doesn't come across as a bad thing,
but the downside is that you lose the sheer punch that 60% ABV gives you.
Cask strength is no longer cask strength.

I think this trick would work great when you want to introduce a relatively low-proof but tasty whisky of around 40% to a whisky newbie: sneak in two drops with the pipette and hand it over, and they'll be hooked right away.

In conclusion, it does change the flavour quite a bit, but I don't think I'll be adding water going forward...? hehe

It was a fun experience!
