맥캘란 18년 셰리오크

맥캘란 셰리통들이 맛탱이가 갔네 예전만 못하네 암만 그래도 맥18은 맥18이다.

향에서부터 녹진한 셰리가 터지고 바닐라와 말린베리류같은 향이 장기자랑을 펼침.
맛은 먹어본적은 없지만 약간 젖은 오크통 안쪽 핥아 먹으면 날것 같은 맛도 있고 초콜렛과 약간의 시트러스도 갖고 있음.
피니쉬도 꾸덕꾸덕 말린 과일느낌이 목구녕 깊은곳에서부터 코까지 챡 퍼짐.

결론은 너무 맛있게 잘 먹었고 나는 드로낙 18이 더 좋아 히히😋

맥18 다음으로 마신건 진짜진짜구하기 어려워진 스프링뱅크 15년. 이건 맛보고 수긍할 수준이면 해외직구든 특사에게 부탁하든 웃돈주든 구매해야겠다 생각하고 주문함. 인기 있는 놈들은 이유가 있을테니까...하지만 또 한편으로는 위스키들에 거품이 많이 낀놈들이 있으니 신중을 기해야 하기에 집중하고 냉철한 판단을 다짐하며 한잔 마셔봄.

향맡고,한모금하고,피니쉬 느낀다음 조용히 휴대폰을 들고, 며칠전 미국 출장 가서 스프링뱅크 15년과 드로낙21년중 장고끝에 드로낙21년만 사온 친구에게 카톡을 보냈다.
미쿡 다시가야겠다고.

향은 달달 꾸덕한 셰리향이 진하게 퍼지고 왼손피트는 거들뿐. 생각보다 셰리 캐릭터가 강해서 조금 놀랐는데 맛이 더 미쳤던거 같다.
엄청 소프트하고 달작지근한 셰리케익먹는기분. 이게 그동안 먹어왔던 셰리들이랑 결이 오묘하게 다르다.
기분좋은 다름.
인기가 많고 재고가 없는 이유를 맛에서 찾았다.
나도 찾아서 살래 스프링뱅크15년!! 오디이써!🥹
마무리도 셰리와 오크향 등이 잔잔하게 쭈욱 뽑히면서 상당히 맛있게 비웠당.

Macallan's sherry casks have gone downhill — not what they used to be. But even so, Mac 18 is still Mac 18.

Rich, dense sherry bursts out right from the nose, and vanilla and dried-berry notes put on a whole talent show.
On the palate — I've never actually tried this, but — there's a raw kind of taste, like licking the inside of a slightly wet oak cask, plus chocolate and a touch of citrus.
The finish is thick, sticky dried fruit that spreads from the deepest part of my throat all the way up to my nose.

Bottom line: I enjoyed it thoroughly, but I like GlenDronach 18 better hehe😋

After Mac 18 I had Springbank 15, which has become really, REALLY hard to get. I ordered it thinking that if it tasted good enough to convince me, I'd buy a bottle one way or another — ordering from overseas, begging a friend traveling abroad to bring one back, or paying a markup. Popular ones are popular for a reason... but then again, plenty of whiskies out there are seriously overhyped, so I had to be careful. I focused, promised myself a cool-headed judgment, and poured a glass.

Nosed it, took a sip, felt the finish, then quietly picked up my phone and texted a friend who, on a business trip to the US a few days ago, had agonized between Springbank 15 and GlenDronach 21 and in the end brought back only the GlenDronach 21.
Told him he needs to go back to America.

The nose is sweet, thick sherry spreading deep and heavy, with the peat just there for support — "the left hand is just for support," Slam Dunk style. I was a bit surprised by how strong the sherry character was, but I think the palate was even crazier.
Super soft, like eating a sweet sherry cake. It's subtly different in texture from all the sherried whiskies I've had so far.
A pleasant kind of different.
I found the reason it's so popular and always out of stock — right there in the taste.
I'm gonna hunt one down too, Springbank 15!! Where are youuu!🥹
The finish draws out sherry and oak gently and long, and I emptied the glass very happily.
